Property Manager

We are seeking an experienced candidate to serve as Property Manager for a family office in Alexandria, Virginia. The Property Manager will manage real estate holdings in Alexandria, Virginia (2 houses, 2 offices, 1 condominium), London (1 house) and the Caribbean (1 house) as their primary responsibility. The Property Manager will oversee and manage two experienced employees who assist with fulfilling the property management responsibilities for the family office.

The Property Manager role is vital to the running of the family office and requires working closely with the COO and other personnel in the office, as well as the family. The role is demanding but is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to showcase their property management experience and client service skills.

The Property Manager will:

  •   Coordinate routine maintenance for the properties including negotiation of service contracts, and arranging and oversight of services performed
  •   Arrange repairs with contractors including the negotiation of the fee for services with contractors (including multiple bids), oversight of work performed, and verification of the work being billed and approval for final payment to contractor
  •   Contract and coordinate landscaping and gardening services and outdoor facilities (pools, fountains, etc.)
  •   For all purchases of services and products related to properties, focus on effective and efficient solutions while ensuring the best value for money spent
  •   Ensure all appliances, HVAC, electronics, TV’s, doors, windows, etc. are in working order for owners or guests at all properties
  •   Visit properties outside the U.S. initially and then as needed; estimated to be 1‐3 times per year.
  •   Handle any emergencies – equipment failures, vandalism, pest damage, weather damage, etc. – including coordinating with insurance and local contractors to manage and oversee repairs
  •   Manage property preparations for any natural disasters/weather events
  •   Manage the properties to a pre‐determined budget
  •   Maintain an ongoing list of short term projects, long term projects and regular maintenance

    and provide regular updates on all items to owners

  •   Ensure all technical aspects of the properties (audio, video, IT, phones) are working

    correctly and are user friendly

  •   Serve as interface with IT consultant and propose hardware purchases as required
  •   Monitor utility usage and adjust plans (cable, satellite, phone, internet, etc.) as needed to

    maximize savings

  •   Produce and update instructional manuals and inventories for each property
  •   Coordinate regular maintenance, emissions testing, safety inspections, repairs and cleanings

    for all automobiles

  •   Arrange and oversee shipments of items from one property to another
